Some people live, sleep and breathe electronic music. Kev Obrien is undoubtedly one of those people. As an avid lover of dance music since the mid-90's, this rising artist is well-versed in all aspects of the industry, and dedicates his entire life toward music. Kev Obrien's musical inspiration is driven by the works of legends such as Sasha, John Digweed and Dave Seaman. Mr. Obrien tightly knits his mixes and digs deep to create a seamless flow of quality tech house, techno, minimal, and progressive.
During the late-90s and early 2000s, Kev played an integral role in the development of Florida's electronic music scene. By DJing at and throwing a wide array of events and festivals/raves throughout Florida and Georgia, Kev cemented himself a force to be reckoned with within the industry. In 2008, Kev relocated to New York and hasn't looked back since.
2009 has already been a productive year for Kev Obrien and his group Stranjjur, which is shared with longtime friend and fellow DJ, Francisco V. After a wild and crazy WMC in Miami, Kev has returned to NYC and is quickly gaining a following, thanks in part to his Stranjj Selections radio show which he moved to ExposureNYC Radio in February.
Now, with an gig schedule and event schedule planned well into 2010, things can only look up from here.
The world is obviously catching on to his focused style of mixing, as his Stranjj Selections mixes this year have all racked up nearly 80,000 downloads in 2009 alone.
In those rare spare moments, Kev also spends his time writing music reviews for websites such as 365mag.com, Data-transmission.co.uk, and Pulseradio.net
In an era where DJs and producers come a dime a dozen, Kev Obrien stands head and shoulders above the ever-increasing population of up and coming artists. Stay tuned.
