Never thread through the bead that's next to where your string comes out.
Take the long end of the string (not the "end"), and thread it through the first bead on the left (the yellow one). I’ve learned multiple ways to create cuffs and have even come up with a few methods of my own. And if you compare these with the pattern, it will help you understand how to read the first row.

Step 16:

Thread the next three beads - which will be green, green, yellow, and then pull through the next black bead. Your string should be coming out of the black bead on the base.

Although this project was made with large plastic pony beads, the same peyote stitch technique could be used with any type of similarly sized beads. To finish the last row and close off your base, instead of stringing three beads through each top-middle black bead, you are going to string two (like the first row).

You should keep checking your cuff with the pattern to make sure you're on track.

However, as you work your way up the rows, you will not always start at the first bead in the row. In my opinion you want it to start out tight and stiff, because it will stretch out over time. I try to avoid this problem by cutting super-long pieces of string for the cuff base and the 3D part. You can use the outline or other links placed within the tutorial to skip ahead if needed.You may also need to refer to the Adding on string if you run out before you get to it in the tutorial. When you are done, make sure to cut off any excess string and tie it, because this is the last row. The mixed set of beads did not have a red, so I used pink.

Step 2:

Pull tightly again. When I add a perler, I just poke a small hole on each side of it (usually with a thumbtack) and tie each side to the cuff. How to paint in oil. If you have been pulling tight, the 2nd bead you pull it through will be raised higher than the 1st bead, as you can tell from the photo.

Continue until you have added all 15 beads, then tie it off firmly.
The bracelet will start to resemble a flower but will flatten out when you add later rows.
