I’m getting a floyd rose locking trem. I also own a original early 84 USA baretta(not the re-issue) and these specials are not to be compared to those obviously, but in thier own right for the $180 i spent it was a … Mint items are in essentially new original condition but have been opened or played. The signature slanted Alnico V humbucker powers this 22 fret, 25.5 inch scale piece of history. In ’93 I modded it with a Schaller locking trem and a SD “Pearly Gates”. But through a good amp with the gain cranked high is where it truly shines. Like new Baretta Special with new upgraded roller bridge, Dimarzio Drop Sonic pickup and Schaller locking tuners. I remember the first Kramer I owned, it was an ’87 Aerostar ZX30 I got off a bud in ’89. anyway i own the pacer classic and one of these,a black baretta special. You can always block the trem if you don't like it, or learn to use/set it up properly.

Having said that, it can still pull off a good clean tone, with some natural warmth and resonance from the mahogany. For a stock pickup it’s actually pretty great. It’s a shame there’s no locking nut, as huge divebombs are notoriously bad for your tuning, but for such an affordable guitar you can’t expect too much.
