Use this tool to build your On our visit, the water was still chilly and the winds fresh, but having a local expert on hand put us on fish. After a little distance the path begins to descend downhill and becomes sandy. It includes areas of marsh, woodland and lowland heath. Another great walk, very sandy over the common so unsuitable for buggies! Even a fish that struggles to make double figures on a cold day can look pretty special when it’s held up for the cameras in front of a 750-year-old fortress.

I can't say I've ever seen it from the road, but it sounds like Thursley Lake. Ill have to come off the junction one day and have a drive in the general direction and see if I can find out anything about it. Continue ahead past the village hall on the left and the village pub, The Three Horseshoes, on the right. There is a lake on the left coming from the devils punch bowl on the northbound A3 just before the new road layout, looks like a country park of some sort. Turn left onto the village road heading downhill. They,ve got a few lakes to try. On the right here on the grass triangle you'll see the Thursley Village Sign which depicts the Norse god of thunder, Thor. Great Walk the sign for the National Nature reserve is missing on Dye House Road next to the second entrance to Foldsdown House.
thanks Lux, ill try and google where it it.
Not sure where you mean - can you be more specific?
The carp obliged and came splashing to the surface in the 3ft-deep water and eventually into my net. As the path begins to head down hill you will come to the wooden gates for a private property ahead.

Its small wooden shingled belfry boasts a sundial with the Latin expression Hora Pars Vitae, meaning every hour is a part of life. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching.
This small parish church is dedicated to St Michael and All Angels and has a finely carved Anglo-Saxon font and two surviving Anglo-Saxon windows in the chancel, which, exceptionally, retain their original wooden frames.
I had fished the lake many times both day & night, catching consistantly but for some reason the bigger residents kept eluding me. Get fast update on all Essex fisheries and fishing weather with just a few clicks. VAT no 918 5617 01 Never looked round it myself and have no idea who controls it.

The track down past Hankley Common was a bit long and dull but Thursley Common was fabulous. At about 800m long, it is the largest body of semi-natural open water in east Surrey. Turn left here onto the wide stone track. Cross over and turn left walking in the road edge with care.
I did post a while ago, but thought seeing as I have lived here a few months now and actually know the area a bit better I thought I would ask again. Ahead of you through the trees is Hammer Pond, a large lake. Follow the main sandy track ahead for more than half a mile through the centre of the common. Follow this stone track with woodland each side for almost a mile. Another way to get to this point is to leave the car park by the path next to the play area where the nature reserve sign is, continue until it divides ignore any footpaths that cross it take the right fork this will take you to the first way-point.
