A true renaissance artist with an extraordinary history in the global dance music scene, DJ Sahar Zangilevich has continued to make tidal waves of success through his Sahar Z soubriquet. A multi-award winning DJ with a global touring schedule and a production portfolio that places him at the summit of the underground dance scene, Sahar Z, is an artist whose reputation continues to grow at an exponential rate.
An accomplished pianist from an early age and a passion that has burned brightly through a rich and varied career, early club performances in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv capital led to a residency at the globally renowned, “Haoman 17”. Instinctively finding his own unique sound, a move to New York City quickly saw packed audiences flocking to experience Sahar Z’s eclectic sets where the sound of the underground quickly became a fundamental tenet of the Israeli’s work at venues such as the “Tunnel” in the 1990s. His talent quickly recognised and thrust into the limelight, stardom beckoned and Sahar Z has never looked. Now playing to huge global audiences, the unique blend of cutting edge underground house, fused with elements of techno and deeper vibes, became the Sahar Z calling card.
A headline DJ with magnetic attraction, Sahar Z’s electric performances behind the decks have seen him share the booth with a host of leading global names, from Solomun and Tale of Us to John Digweed, Guy Gerber and M.A.N.D.Y. Headlining sold out gigs alongside Hernan Cattaneo, Patrice Bäumel, Agoria and Red Axes, Sahar’s ability to craft his sound to suit any venue or crowd as he voyages through and expertly fashioned sets, is founded upon an ability to read the imperceptible shifts in crowd reactions. Generating a party atmosphere like no other, he blends rhythm and melody in an alchemy of aural gold.
In tandem, a successful production career has catapulted Sahar Z, to the upper echelons of the underground dance scene. With his equally successful fellow countryman, Guy Mantzur, the pair’s work has been wedded to some of the finest underground imprints including Sudbeat, Plattenbank and Lost & Found. Moreover, 2014’s full-length album “Time” appeared on the Guy J owned label with Sahar also teaming up with the Israeli superstar the previous year on the track “7.11” for John Digweed’s Bedrock Records. April 2017’s collaboration with Dutch icon, Navar, was yet another highlight on Lost & Found in April 2017, alongside a galaxy of work for Suara, microCastle and Renaissance. Continuing to see his work supported by the global DJ elite in Sasha, Digweed and Cattaneo, the Sahar Z name is one with global presence and gold-standard industry reputation.
A strong relationship with Israeli icon, Guy J, has led to the duo forming a strong bond that has resulted in numerous DJ performances across the globe as part of the Lost & Found label showcases in Miami, Moscow and Amsterdam, for the annual ADE extravaganza. Furthermore, the formation of the pair’s new Armadillo Records has seen a focus on the more experimental side of electronic music. Drawing the industry’s leading exponents to the label, Robert Babicz, Jamie Stevens, Roger Martinez and Stelios Vassiloudis have played an integral part in the label’s success since its March 2017 inception.
Three-time winner of Israel’s DJ of the year award, Sahar Z is a modern global tour de force. Part owner and resident DJ of Tel Aviv’s largest club “The Cat & Dog”, Sahar continues to dominate the Israeli underground scene with his unique blend of technique, talent and immaculate taste. Continuing to see his star rise on the world stage through carefully constructed sets that mesmerise club audiences and festival-goers, Sahar embarks on yet another new residency in 2018, at the renowned “Sound Nightclub” in Los Angeles. Moreover, Sahar’s production career sees him sit at the underground dance fraternity’s top table with increasing frequency through work that shimmers and gleams in increasing intensity.
